Abstract

Until now, there have been many difficulties in the design verification of the submarine charging generator. A submarine is made up of a hermetically sealed structure and requires a high degree of reliability in the harsh operating environment. In order to solve these problems, the real-time simulator using HILS(Hardware In the Loop Simulation) system, which is capable of verifying the performance of the physical hardware such as digital AVR(Automatic Voltage Regulator), is applied to reduce time and cost for the design verification of the charging generator. The digital AVR performs a role in controlling output voltage of the charging generator to satisfy the charging characteristics of the battery which stores the propulsion energy of the submarine. In this paper, we suggested the functional block diagram of the charging generator with the digital AVR. It was verified that the simulation model of the charging generator with the digital AVR could reliably control output voltage. The hardware design verification of digital AVR is being performed by using HILS system. The described simulator will be applied to verify the various power system architecture of the submarine including the battery system in the near future.
