Abstract

The AC-excited doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) has become one of the main generators in variable speed constant frequency (VSCF) wind power generation systems. The wind turbine model and the dynamic mathematical model of DFIG are derived. The control of the rotor current inner loop and the rotating speed outer loop are designed based on internal model control (IMC) strategies, respectively. A complete 2MW variable speed constant frequency (VSCF) DFIG wind power generation system model is developed based on PSCAD/EMTDC. The simulation results show that the system has fast dynamic response under various run conditions and can operate at sub-synchronous speed and super-synchronous speed.
