Abstract

Differential and integrated cross sections for He+-He collisions at low energies are computed quantum mechanically and compared with observed differential cross sections and predissociation data for He2+. The mobility of He+ ions in He is calculated for temperatures of 77K and 294K. The results agree within 1.5% with the measurements of Helm. The equilibrium dissociation energy of He2+ is estimated to be 2.48 eV.
