Abstract

BackgroundTelehealth has escalated as a method for delivering healthcare. Faculty are now realizing that telehealth must be integrated within advanced practice registered nursing (APRN) education. With simulation being a leading method for teaching clinical skills, faculty need a structure for integrating telehealth within simulations. MethodFaculty members from varying advanced practice tracks were tasked with the job of creating simulations that included telehealth. They identified the importance of having a template to follow. ResultsThe iSOAP model for Telehealth Simulation was developed to aid faculty in developing simulation cases to represent telehealth encounters. ConclusionThe iSOAP model can be used to develop simulated experiences that enable faculty to educate and evaluate APRN students as they strive to meet required telehealth competencies needed for practice.
