Abstract

Synthesis of 2-substituted benzimidazole derivatives using reactants aldehyde, o-phenylenediamine, and sodium hypophosphite as a catalyst using microwave irradiation. An efficient and green synthesis carried out using sodium hypophosphite gives high yield in shorts reaction time. This route provides key advantages such as high yield, clean, easy work-up, readily available catalyst, and good yield. Compared with the conventional method, microwave irradiation process has more advantages.
