Abstract

Abstract The magnetic domain size of melt-spun Nd 60 Fe 30 Al 10 has been determined by means of small-angle neutron scattering (SANS). An average domain size of 300 nm was found. High resolution electron micrography and magnetic measurements revealed the precipitation of Nd-rich multi-phases embedded in an amorphous matrix. The 57 Fe Mossbauer spectroscopy showing two peaks in the hyperfine field distribution with high and low moment values, respectively.
