Abstract

TheViebock apparatus for the microdetermination of chlorine and bromine in organic compounds has been modified. A more compact absorption vessel has been designed and an electrical heating device has been included. The mercuric oxycyanide procedure for the determination of the halide, originally recommended byViebock for control purposes, is preferred in place of the direct alkalimetric method with which high results are obtained. The apparatus may be used for batch determinations.
