Abstract

AbstractThe micromechanically based non‐affine elastic network model incorporating topological constraints has been recently proposed in Miehe et al. [3]. In the current contribution we advance the micro‐sphere elastic full network model so that it accounts for the rate dependent viscous effects. The viscoelastic network model is constructed by additively dividing the total network response into elastic and viscous parts. The equilibrium response of the material is described by the model proposed in Miehe et al. [3]. The time‐dependent overstress response is based on the two basic mechanisms: the retraction of the unconstrained dangling chains by diffusive reptile motion and the release of constraint effects due to the surrounding chains.
