Abstract

The discussion on commodity production and the operation of the law of value under socialism has revealed different points of view not only with respect to detail but in the approach to the solution of the problem as a whole and in respect to method. It would appear to be agreed that the problem lies not in seeking some new theory of commodity production, but in the creative application of the theory of Marx to analysis of commodity production in socialist society. Although this theory was elaborated on the basis of a study of capitalist commodity relations, it contains general methodological principles for the examination of commodity relationships in any society where such relationships in any society where such relationships exist, including a socialist society.
