Abstract

In 1967 the nine Imperial Smelting Furnaces in operation produced 352,000 tons of zinc and 185,000 tons of lead. By 1970, when the four now under construction also come into operation, the annual production should be at the rate of zinc 800,000 tons, lead 450,000 tons. It can, therefore, be claimed that although the process is primarily for the production of zinc, it is also an important producer of lead.
