Abstract

The metabolism of isovanillic acid (IVA) is described in man. The major excretion occurs as an IVA-glycine conjugate, with small amounts of free IVA also being excreted. A conjugate of the dimethoxy acid (VRA) is also excreted. This provides an example of the formation of a 3,4-dimethoxyphenyl compound in vivo.
