Abstract

The aim is to explore the universe of scenic production in dance known as Conceptual Dance, limited to what is insisted in the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, from the 2000s onwards. In it, modeling takes place with elements such as the presence of scenic speech, the refusal of the current notion of step and choreography, the refusal of the association of dance as the stricto sensu place of mobility, among other formative themes for another understanding of the dancing body. The study aims to map such constituents present in dance production that can be called conceptual dance in works by Cristian Duarte (SP), Gustavo Círiaco (RJ), Marcela Levi (RJ) and Marta Soares (SP). We want to produce critical materiality in dance in the light of Memetic Theory and discuss which Cultural Units, Memes, of Conceptual Dance are present in a certain Brazilian contemporary dance.
