Abstract

Abstract A new subfamily, Melisiinae (Canestriniidae) is created for Melisia Lombardini, Phaleratus Nesbitt and two new monotypic genera: Taseopus and Paramelisia. These genera have at least 3 pairs of moderately long dorsal setae (sci, L2 and L4) conspicuously barbed or minutely barbed and greatly flattened. Also described are 3 new species of Melisia: leptinotarsa, superba and sentosa.
