Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of allogeneic bone with autologous femoral bone graft in the treatment of developmental dysplasia of the hip(DDH).Methods Fifty-one patients (68 hips) of DDH who were treated with Pemberton acetabular osteotomy,proximal femoral subtrochanteric shortening and varus derotation osteotomy between October 2004 and October 2006 were retrospectively analyzed.There were 17 patients (25 hips) in group A (autologous iliac affiliate femoral graft group)and 34 patients (43 hips)in group B(allogeneic bone affiliate autologous femoral mixed graft group).Results All cases were followed up for 5 to 8 years.Bony acetabular index,CE angle and the Reimers index were significantly improved in group A and B.Good hip function was achieve in 88.00% of the hips in group A and in 83.72% of hips in group B according to the Mckay clinical criteria for hip function assessment.The good rate of radiology was 76.00% in group A and 74.42% in group B,according to Severin radiographic classification.The satisfaction rate of graft fusion was 92.00% in group A and 90.70% in group B,according to Eck classification.There were no significant difference between group A and B (x2 =0.001,P =1.000; x2 = 0.021,P =0.885 ; x2 =0.033,P =1.000).Conclusions Mixed bone graft in DDH osteotomy is reliable and can get the similar clinical effects as autogenous iliac graft in the treatment of DDH.
