Abstract
Kinetic studies of the aerobic batch growth of S. cerevisiae on a glucose substrate, a fructose substrate and a substrate consisting of an equimolar mixture of the two sugars are discussed with reference to possible transport mechanisms. Two systems of uptake were found to be present; one resulting in equal uptake of both glucose and fructose, the other in preferential uptake of glucose to fructose.
