Abstract

1. 1. The kinetics of inhibition of liver cysteine sulphinic acid decarboxylase by isonicotinyl hydrazide and hydroxylamine have been compared. 2. 2. Evidence is presented to suggest that decarboxylase inhibition is the result of interaction between the formyl group of pyridoxal phosphate and the inhibitor. 3. 3. It is suggested that the rate of inhibition of enzymes by isonicotinyl hydrazide may be used to demonstrate the presence of pyridoxal phosphate as a prosthetic group.
