Abstract

Lactation is a special physiological period for female, including postpartum puerperium. Puerperium Women are needed to be treated with drugs because of maternal system changes, lowered immunity, large wound in the uterus after childbirth, prone to infection and secondary to other diseases. But there has a problem, that is, mothers are usually advised against breast feeding because of drug through human breast milk into baby's body. There are plenty of conclusions about the medicine transportation mechanism, but still lacking research about the clinical trial which could provide the evidence directly. So, lactating women should be medicated based on the theory derived from the mechanism which could minimized the risk for the infant. This article reviewed all the published articles about the conclusions of the medicine transportation mechanism and about medication safely used in lactating women.
