Abstract
A mechanism of interaction of dislocations with point defects is suggestedon the basis of a study of deformation-stimulated luminescence (DL)from irradiated KCl. DL is considered to be a result of destruction ofhole colour centres by dislocations. The centres destroyed by dislocationsare responsible for irradiation-induced strengthening of alkali halides.
