Abstract

AbstractIn the reaction of dimethylketene with GRIGNARD reagent of ether polyketonic type oligomers were formed, but the non‐distillable fraction was of polyester type. Therefore it is suggested that the propagation reaction to polyketone proceeds slowly, but those to polyester is a fast one. From the results of fractionations of polymers prepared under various conditions, the polymerization mechanism is explained by three kinds of growing chain ends which are in dynamic equilibrium.
