Abstract

This article is intended to explain the systems of surveys and the basic field procedures adopted by surveyors when carrying out surveys in New Zealand. It complements a previous article published by J. A. McRae in the September 1981 Canadian Surveyor entitled Survey Practice in New Zealand, and deals with the legislative background to and the mechanics of the surveying process.
