Abstract

ABSTRACT KDP (Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate) crystal is a kind of el ectro-optic nonlinear optical ma terial. With increase of the growth size of KDP crystal, the crystal will crack during the growth process, which restricts the development of technology on large-size crystal growth. So as to discover the mechanical behavior of crack of KDP during the growth, the mechanical testing of KDP crystal was performed, its material property of transversely isotropic was verified, Poisson's ratio and other key mechanical parameters are got. It’s the necessarily step for the further research of the crack mechanism of KDP crystal. INTRODUCTION KDP crystal has piezoelectric, ferroelectric, electro-optic, an d other non-linear function, which was carried out extensive research. Because of its large nonlinear op tical and electro-optic coefficient, high optical damage threshold, low optical absorption, high optical uniformity and good characteristics such as through the band, KDP has been widely used in laser frequency, electro-optical modulator and light switches and other high-tech fields.
