Abstract

The report is primarily concerned with methods of measurement. Formulae relating radiation intensities and radiation constants - transition probabilities, lifetimes and oscillator strengths - are set out in a simple way to co-ordinate the discussion. Examples are selected to illustrate the more important methods recently used for measurement of radiation constants for discrete and continuous spectra. Interesting reduction procedures are sketched out. A few tables illustrate the consistency of the results obtained by the application of different methods to measure the same constant. Bibliographies, etc. referred to would enable the tracing of most of the currently available numerical data in specific cases.
