Abstract
The photon-photon delayed coincidence method has been used to measure the average lifetime of the a 3 Sigma g+ state of hydrogen and the value (10.45+or-0.25) ns has been found. This type of coincidence technique has previously only been used for the measurement of excited states of atoms, but it is shown that the counting rates and accuracy can be much higher in the case of molecular excited states.
