Abstract

A system for detecting magnetic circular dichroism in the visible and near ultra-violet regions of the spectrum is described. In constructing this apparatus consideration has been given to the factors that affect the signal-to-noise ratio in an attempt to achieve high sensitivity. The parameters concerned are discussed in some detail. Examples of circular dichroism and magnetic circular dichroism spectra are shown.
