Abstract
In this paper, a laser spallation approach has been employed to measure the interface strength of TiN coating/pure iron substrate. By adjusting the laser parameters in the tests, the laser-induced spallation can just occur along the interface of the coating/substrate. The spalling process of the TiN coating can be considered as firstly self-breaking up, then spalling off from the pure iron substrate. The interface strength and strain rate have been roughly calculated.
