Abstract

Thermoluminescence detectors in the form of thin discs were used for dose profile measurement of CT scanners CT/T8800, CT9800 and CT MAX made by General Electric, CT 1200 SX made by Picker and SOMATOM 2 made by Siemens. Effective energy of a CT scanner X ray was evaluated prior to calibration and measurement. Dose profiles of all nominal slice thicknesses down to 1.5 mm and of a multiple scan were measured for each CT scanner. CT dose indexes were derived from the dose profiles and compared with values measured by a pencil type ionisation chamber.
