Abstract

Measurements of atmospheric turbulence under various weather conditions were taken at heights ranging from 1 to 33 m. The strength and scale of wind and temperature fluctuations were determined. The results are examined to see what simplifications can be made that will yield a statistical model that can be utilized in applications involving acoustic wave propagation. This work is an extension of Daigle et al. [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 64, 622–630 (1978)] to higher altitudes.
