Abstract

72 double-width Fastbus modules, built around a MC68020 processor, are used in the read-out of the TPC (Time Projection Chamber) of the Aleph experiment at CERN, Geneva. They perform basic data acquisition tasks as well as processing of events and monitoring of the set-up. A very fast and original Fastbus coprocessor has been developed. Performance of the module and problems related to the complexity of the system are discussed.
