Abstract

The surface artifact inventory and distribution within the wall system on the summit of Tumamoc Hill is discussed. The range of artifact types is similar to that of nearby contemporaneous village sites, but the low density indicates a relatively brief total occupation of the site. The lack of discrete trash areas, the presence of work areas, and a proportionately high number of mortar holes suggest a food storage and processing facility.
