Abstract By use of a measured temperature and the value of Qo implied by the period ratio, the mass of the beat Cepheid, TU Cas, is determined. The value found (4.0 o) compares well with values for evolw tionary models (4.0-4.7 ?o). On the other hand, the mass caJculated from pulsation theory using the period, luminosity, and temperature is smaller than either of these two estimates ( = 3.3 t0). This would indicate either that the interpretation of the beat phenomenon in terms of the period ratio is incorrect or that the model calculations of periods and period ratios are in error.
