Abstract

Assuming that neutrinos do possess a nonzero rest mass as two recent experiments have suggested, the dynamics of groups of galaxies have been used to set a lower limit on the neutrino mass by allowing identification of the density at which the neutrinos become phase-space limited. This mass is m/sub ..nu../> or approx. =6.2(H/50)/sup 1/2/g/sub ..nu..//sup -1/4/ eV and corresponds to ..cap omega../sub ..nu../roughly-equal..cap omega../sub 0/> or approx. =0.5(50/H)/sup 3/2/g/sub ..nu..//sup 3/4/.
