Abstract

Pasir Mas is one of the eight subdistricts (daerah) into which the state of Kelantan is divided. The town center (bandar) of the district is also called Pasir Mas and is the second largest town in Kelantan, with about 10,000 inhabitants. Pasir Mas sits just across the river Kelantan from the state capital, Kota Bharu, and is second in importance only to the state capital as a market, administrative, religious, and political center.
