Dr. Goode is an erudite, scientifically oriented sociologist, with an analytic and critical mind and a superb writing skill. With these assets and the knowledge acquired from extensive reading, from interviewing over 200 marihuana users, and from approximately 2,500 manhours spent observing pot smoking, he has written a book that will play an important role in ultimately formulating new attitudes toward marihuana usage.There is an urgent need for objective facts about this drug and its users. At present both the promarihuana and the antimarihuana people seem more intent on propagandizing their views than on discovering the truth.
