Abstract

Abstract We present the results of an experimental investigation into the three-dimensional deformations of a stope face in a deep level gold mine due to a pre-conditioning blast. Digital photogrammetry, which is a very accurate technique used to map surface geometry by means of a combination of digital photography and surveying, is used to monitor the deformations of the face as a result of the preconditioning blast. We summarize the technology used, and present results of the movement of the stope face due to the blast.
