Abstract
Thank you to all those who got in touch to congratulate me on my new role. I really appreciated your messages of support and your positive feedback on the work I have done over a number of years to promote the role of the healthcare assistant (HCA) and assistant practitioner (AP). Some of you were concerned that now that I have taken up my new post I will no longer be a champion for HCAs and APs. Well, I would just like to re-affirm my commitment to promoting both roles and I will continue to campaign within the West Midlands and nationally on behalf of HCAs and APs. In fact, some colleagues, some HCAs and I are just about to plan HCA Day for RCN Congress 2010. It will take place in Bournemouth next year and if there is something you want to see on the programme, get in touch soon and I will see what I can do about getting your issue or area of interest on the programme.
