Abstract
The commercial production of photographic printing papers was undergoing significant international change and development during the last two decades of the nineteenth century. In Australia the shift to commercial photographic papers was made possible by the development of locally manufactured goods, produced mainly in Melbourne, Victoria and Sydney, New South Wales, and subsequently distributed throughout the other colonies.
