Abstract

As a result of 13-year continuous observations of the parameters of the Earth's natural pulsed electromagnetic field (NPEMFE) in the Baikal rift zone (BRZ), it has been shown that diurnal variations of the very low-frequency (VLF) electromagnetic field during a seismic calm period have stable epicenter. It was found that in the seismically active Baikal region, several days before a nearby strong earthquake, there is a sharp either increase or decrease in the intensity of the VLF electromagnetic field, depending on the location of the earthquake epicenter (on land or in the water area).
