Abstract

The paper presents the origins, the goals and the functioning of the International Association for the Study of Insurance Economics, known as the Association . Because the Geneva Association's activity improves knowledge of the links between insurance and the global economy in a period where the latter suffers from increased vulnerability, it is of fundamental importance for the whole insurance community. The task of the Geneva Association consists essentially in organizing the supply and demand for economic research in risk and insurance. For this reason, a wider use of the concepts of risk and uncertainty in general economic theory has been from the start one of the major goals of the Association.
