Abstract

Introduction: NLD damage commonly occurs as a result of mid facial trauma involving the NOE complex or during surgical fracture repair. The incidence of symptomatic lacrimal obstruction ranges from 12 to 29% in the literature. Injury to the NLD system can result in permanent epiphora which may require surgical repair commonly using dacryocystorhinostomy, stenting, balloon dilation or endoscopic laser surgery. Incidence of permanent epiphora is difficult to establish stimulating our interest in this study.
