Abstract

I met Ling-chi Wang in 1974 when I joined the faculty of the Asian American Studies Program at the University of California, Berkeley. He impressed me from the beginning with his analytical acumen, but it was not until 1977, when the program was going through an internal upheaval, that I clearly saw his courage, strength, and integrity-traits that underlie his moral authority.
