Abstract

During their clinical practicum periods, students acquire practical skills and apply theoretical knowledge in real-life situations with patients. These learning experiences form an essential part of professional development. This chapter describes the role of the clinical practicum in healthcare education—especially in relation to students’ professional development. The chapter describes the main factors influencing this process and how it facilitates the building of professional identity.
