Abstract
The magnetic field due to the flow of steady currents in two parallel cylindrical conductors of circular sections set in a non-uniform external magnetic field is determined, the materials forming the conductors being magnetic in character. General expressions for the mechanical forces and the torques acting on the cylinders are deduced, and investigated for particular examples.
