Abstract

The magnetic susceptibility of a commensurate Cr alloy with 2 at% Si and 0.5 at% Fe has been measured as a function of the temperature in the range 4-340 K in order to check the previously established quadratic dependence on the Fe concentration of a Curie-Weiss part and the linear dependence on the Fe concentration of a temperature independent part of the susceptibility below the Néel temperature for commensurate CrFe and CrSiFe alloys with less than 4 at% Fe. These facts are verified by the new results although with slight modifications because of disturbing interactions between the Si and the Fe atoms. The Curie-Weiss part is ascribed to nearest neighbour pairs of Fe atoms and the temperature independent part to isolated Fe atoms.
