Abstract

During the past session I have been giving the intermediate physics lectures in my department. These lectures are attended by students of almost all the departments of the College, and, although most of them have already taken— and passed—advanced-level G.C.E. Physics at school, I try to start from fundamentals and to provide a course which will give a firm basis on which to build in succeeding years. Many of the students will also later receive tuition in electrotechnics and electronics in the Electrical Engineering department, and the Professor of Electrical Engineering suggested that for teaching magnetism and electricity I should use the m.k.s. System, which is used entirely in his department ; he thought that the sooner the students were introduced to it, the better.
