Abstract

Abstract Regular readings of ƒ 0 E taken at Ibadan for 14 yr (from 1951 to 1965) have been analysed by an improved technique to determine the lunar tidal effect. This is shown to be small and to contain both diurnal and semi-diurnal components. There is found to be a large seasonal variation of the tide and a regular variation of the tidal phase with the layer height.
