Abstract
The VUV–Vis spectroscopic properties of barium borophosphate BaBPO 5 doped with lanthanide ions are investigated. The host absorption band is found to be around 150–160 nm, the charge transfer band of Eu 3+ is observed at about 264 nm, the f–d transitions of Ce 3+, Eu 2+, and Tb 3+ in the host lattice are depicted. The partial reduction of Eu 3+ in air atmosphere is reported.
