Abstract

The positive effects of rhenium additions on the mechanical behavior of group VI-A refractory metals have been known for decades. In particular, rhenium enhances high-temperature strength and creep resistance as well as low-temperature ductility. This article outlines the low-temperature mechanical behavior of molybdenum-rhenium, including the role of mechanical twinning.
