The long-wavelength limit of the structure factor of liquid alkali metals: one-component plasma model

Abstract

It is shown that the classical one-component plasma model can give a consistent description of the isothermal compressibility and structure factor of liquid alkali metals near melting when the plasma parameter is treated as a free parameter. For lithium, a new local pseudopotential proposed by Hoshino and Young (1986) is more appropriate than the Ashcroft potential when discussing the isothermal compressibility.
