Abstract

Objective To improve the efficacy of endoscopic sinus surgery ( ESS ) by assessing its long-term curative effect.Methods ESS was performed on 86 patients with chronic sinusitis or nasal polyps.All the patients were then followed up for two years.Results In a 2-year follow-up,76patients ( 88.4% ) were cured,while 10 ( 11.6% ) failed to respond to the procedure.5 patients developed blood extravasation blood in the eyelid,and 6 developed nasal synechia.Conclusions Endoscopic sinus surgery is efficacious in the treatment of chronic sisusitis and nasal polyps.It can increase the cure rate effectively,achieve a long-term efficacy,and reduce complications.
