Abstract

One year ago, the HMRC data loss sent waves of shock and disdain throughout the information security industry, the ripples of which have been felt throughout 2008, and which are still very much apparent today. The breach set the tone for this year's industry focus, and while no breach since has matched HMRC in terms of scale or press coverage, data losses have made the headlines on a regular basis, many of which have been the ‘work’ of the public sector.
